This Thursday the 11th March, visitors to Springfields will be given the opportunity to learn more about Vegetable Growing as part of the Horti’cultural’ Festival that has been taking place at the Centre for the last few months.
Fenscape and Springfields have joined together with professional Dave Rolfe to put on a one hour lecture and demonstration on the subject of growing your own vegetables.
Many people are now turning their hand to growing vegetables at home, especially due to the pressures of the current economic climate. Dave will cover topics from seed preparation to sowing and cultivating and will give tips on how to plant in both the garden and in containers, so it doesn’t matter if you only have limited space at home, you can still pick up some useful ideas!
The event is also totally free to attend, starts at 1pm and is being held in a marquee in the Festival Gardens.
In addition Fens Forward wants to encourage parents with young children to attend the event and so is offering a free Nursery Voucher Scheme, working with Lilliputs, a local Registered Nursery, this will allow parents the option to arrange childcare.
The event is part of an six month long Horti’Cultural’ Festival, which has been funded by the department of Business Innovation and Skills through their Learning Revolution -Transformation Fund, has received £10k which will enable Fens Forward at Fenscape – The Fens Discovery Centre and Springfields Horticultural Society, to put on eighteen themed events including demonstrations, talks and hands on activities.
